Keith Berry - Managing Director
A founder investor in 2 Save Energy Keith will take on the role of MD. Educated locally in Newbury and from an electrical engineering background, he worked abroad in the 1970s in the US, Brazil and the Middle East.
Returning to the UK, Keith has successfully built up and sold on three technology companies. In 1986 he founded ‘Online’ a computer installation company selling out to Reading based Sintrom for £2m in 1988. He then formed LanBase Plc in 1992 specialising in computer network integration. After 6 years LanBase was acquired by Workplace Technologies. Within one year as a main Board Director Keith helped the new company with 400 staff to be acquired by NTL for £90million.
In the last 5 years as a Business Angel, two of Keith’s investments have received second stage investment namely Channel Health which was floated on AIM in August 2000 at a value of £20million. Also Xtraserve Plc based in Hook, Hants received £2million of venture capital. As a technology investor and non-executive director of a number of start ups, in recent years Keith has seen first hand success & failures. He has had his beliefs in cash control, customer care and a sales and marketing focus hardened by his experiences.
Les Needs - Financial Director
Les is a fellow of the Chartered Certified Accountants, having qualified in 1977. He has held a variety of senior financial positions within Reuter’s and CBS Ltd. He gained considerable experience at Sintrom Plc, working in several of their autonomous subsidiaries as Finance Director in both Sintrom’s third party maintenance and data networking companies. Les assisted in the process of obtaining a full stock exchange listing of the Sinitrom Group, as well as being responsible for growing the Group’s third party maintenance company through a series of successful acquisitions during the late 80’s.
Les was one of the founders of Lanbase Plc, a computer network integration company formed in 1992. Lanbase grew quickly and had operations in the UK, Europe and Asia, reaching £28 million of turnover with 110 employees. The company was successfully marketed for sale in 1998 and was acquired by Workplace Technologies Plc. The enhanced group was acquired within one year by NTL. Les is currently working in the PR and marketing Industry.
David McTurk - Technical and Manufacturing Operations Advisor
David is a qualified Electronics Engineer, and has held a number of senior management positions in publicly quoted and private companies in the high technology manufacturing sector.
His early Board level career was with Dowty Information Systems and Carlton Cabletime, leading to an appointment in 1995 as Managing Director and subsequently Group Chairman of Osborne electronic Holdings, a large contract manufacturing business in the telecoms sector.
In 1997 he was appointed COO and later Deputy President of Bookham Technology plc, which he joined as a start up company, and was instrumental in leading through a successful LSE/Nasdaq IPO and on to a business of 1000 employees on three continents.
